We woke cruising the Arabian Sea, but we’re now in the Gulf
of Oman. During the night, we’ll enter the Arabian Gulf through the Strait of
Hormuz and reach Dubai around ten tomorrow. One of my nieces used to live in
Dubai a few years ago. I only wish we could have taken this trip when she was
there.
Yesterday, the DH and I sang an a cappella version of Amazing Grace in the passenger talent
show. It was great fun and we’ve rarely performed for a more appreciative
audience. My table mate, Shirley, says she enjoys that kind of show because the
performers are people she knows.
Then last night, the
production dancers and singer put on another Broadway style show called “La
Danza.” I can't say enough good things about this troop of young people. They are consummate professionals and talented in the extreme.
Today was the Harmony Choir concert for this segment. It was
very well attended and everyone seemed to enjoy our program. I love being able
to sing every sea day.
There was another show today, this one in the Main Dining
Room. It was the much anticipated Indian Brunch.
It was the perfect excuse for the DH to break out his
dhothie again! But he wasn’t the only one in fancy dress!

This is Miguel, the young man who greets us with hand sanitizer
each evening.
This fellow is giving us a foretaste of what’s to come. This
is the ubiquitous garb of the well-dressed Emirati male. They are easily distinguished from their Saudi cousins because the Saudis wear a red and white checked head covering. The black band on his
head dress is a tip of the hat, as it were, to United Arab Emirates
desert-dwelling past. It was originally used to wrangle goats!
I smashed my thumb between the chair and table out on the fantail a few weeks ago. It'll be a while before than nail looks like anything again. |
This unusual-looking thing is dragon fruit. It tastes like a not-too-sweet watermelon.
The brunch was a delight! In addition to the dragon fruit, I
had fish, lamb, cheese, shrimp, a delectable slice of mango. The quality of the
food on the Pacific Princess has been stellar!
At supper, Oscar, our Maitre D Extraordinaire, invited me to join his harem. But he says that to all the girls.
Gettin' a little handsy there, Oscar! |
Sadly, we are losing Kathie and Vaughan at Dubai so this was the last night we were able to share a meal with them since tomorrow night, we'll be out in the desert under the stars. Table 60 will miss these friendly Aussies very much. They are such fun. It was a pleasure to get to know them and I hope some day our paths will cross again!
It is good to hear the quality of the food remains good on an extended cruise. I wondered if they would ration the good dishes. Do they repeat menu selections often?

The menus do repeat each segment. This is a good thing because if you like something, you know you can have it again. You also get to take a chance on a different dish you might have skipped the first time. Princess doesn't recognize the word "rationing." Some of our tablemates have occasionally ordered two entrees or desserts.
DeleteOh, such fun memories!! It sounds like Oscar will not be on the World Cruise next year. I believe he is heading to the Crown. I hope it was by his choice, he is such a character! We really enjoyed getting to know him and his team. We met one couple that gave him a tie two years ago. He not only remembered them, he remembered which tie they gave him!
