Day 72 ~ What to Wear on Formal Night

Today was a most welcome sea day after a long string of port days. I actually slept in till 7:30. Trust me, for me, that is sleeping in. We enjoyed a port talk, got humbled in Trivia, and went to the first Harmony Choir practice of this segment. I also managed to walk over 7000 steps.

Tonight was another formal night. We’ve had 3-4 each segment, so I thought you might like to see what folks wear on these evenings.

Here are our tablemates—Shirley is looking sharp in a cocktail dress and matching jacket. For a change, she has a black bolero jacket she switches into to make another outfit. Her shoes are heels, but not too high. When the ship’s rocking the last thing a lady needs are stiletto heels! David is in a sports jacket, tie and dress pants.

Our Aussie friends Frank and Anna (on the right) have been joined by Frank’s sister and brother-in-law, Maria and Noel, for this segment of the cruise. The guys are going full-out James Bond with tuxes, while the ladies are rocking some serious lace on their cocktail dresses. That’s Stanley, the ship’s mascot, photo-bombing them!

Here are our other table mates, Emily and David. Emily’s lovely gown drapes to the floor. It’s hard to beat classic black and white. David, on the other hand, must have a dozen different colored bow ties!

Joan and Don have already booked the 2019 World Cruise! The leaves and stems on Joan’s dress are gold thread and her hem reaches mid-calf. As you can see, there’s a lot of leeway for women’s hemlines--above the knee, tea-length, middie and floor length.

And women can also choose to wear dress pants and an elegant top! Ellen and Bob are top notch bridge players and have been dining at a table near ours all through this trip. Check out the lovely Murano glass necklace Ellen bought in Venice.

Tomorrow we call on the island of Malta, where the apostle Paul was shipwrecked on his way to Rome.  The Pacific Princess is gently rocking so it’s time for me to hit the hay.

More later…

  2. We did get the email. Thanks, Mom. We were wearing something I've posted before, so that's why we weren't included. That's the nice thing about having 4 legs to the WC. On each leg, there are some folks who just boarded that haven't seen all my clothes yet!
