This has been a busy week!
We finally got our Saudi Arabia and Indian e-visas yesterday. We finished packing. Today we drove over to Springfield MO, about 100 miles from our town, to pick up a rental car. (Yes, we live in the sticks, so this is the closest place for us to find one!) Originally, our #1 Daughter was going to drive us to St. Louis on Saturday for our flight on Sunday, but the more I thought about it, the more I hated to steal a day of rest from her. (It's a 4 1/2 hour drive each way.) So we're going to drop our rental at Lambert International and save her a long day on the road. Of course, that's assuming we test negative for Covid tomorrow.
Tomorrow. I can scarcely believe it's actually happening. All these months, years actually, of looking forward to this trip, and I've really kind of doubted it would ever happen. And I may still be right.
Today, we got an email from Viking telling us they are planning a webinar to discuss "itinerary changes in response to the evolving global travel environment."
Only problem is the webinar is scheduled for Sunday morning at 10 am Pacific time. We'll just be landing in LA about them and won't be able to see it. Our TA is hoping to record it for us and send us a copy so we can watch it once we are settled into our hotel in San Pedro. So we'll see...
However, up until the last minute, I was afraid something would happen to keep us from embarking on the Pacific Princess in 2018. Just before we left home that time, we had what was for us, a big snowfall and yet everything worked out. Yesterday, this was the scene out our front window.
Maybe it's a sign...
Finally … just around the corner. I’ve been reading a couple of blogs from those already on the ship. Have to be an armchair cruiser until we head to the Canadian Arctic on an expedition vessel, so I am glad there are some people writing.
ReplyDeleteWow! The fabled Northwest passage! How exciting for you!
DeleteReading from a distance. I hope you get on, enjoy reading about the travels. Been reading those other blogs you listed, they seem to be making it.
ReplyDeleteAttitude is everything. I feel so grateful for the chance to take this trip. Yes, it will undoubtedly be a different experience with all the covid protocols, but if we are able to make the entire voyage I will have such a sense of accomplishment!
DeleteThinking of you and hoping all goes well. Have a safe flight.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Gordon. Getting to the ship is always the most stress part of any cruise.
